Mr Clive Barnes, Headmaster at NorthfieldsIn updating this message of welcome to all who read our new website I am very conscious of how much the school has changed since the last message in 2007.

More faces, buildings, fields, facilities and a curriculum that has now fully embraced the IB Diploma and as of June 2010 will have phased out Cambridge ‘A’ level studies.  So an IGCSE and IB Diploma will be followed exclusively as of September 2010.

I have created a group of highly experienced, knowledgeable and proactive IT buffs to take our website to a new level of perfection by employing the CMS system under the able guidance and initiative of our IT service provider Mr Joe Moffett.  What a great job his SecureIT company has done to create a hugely successful IT environment at our school.

This is my last year at Northfields.  For professional and personal reasons I have decided to move on to another chapter in my (our) professional lives and we are looking at offers in China, UK and worldwide.  My last official day at Northfields is 31 July 2010 so that I can see through the first ever IB Diploma group; the last of our ‘A’ level pupils; and give advice to our incoming Head of School.

How do I encapsulate my 5 years and 2 month term of office?  Growth, development, a wonderfully happy mix of pupils, faculty/staff and parents with a challenging and hopefully more effective Governance system to mention a few.

Most especially and if I have a legacy to leave at all it is a very beautiful school with tranquil grounds and a happy place to be.  Learning happens at Northfields in so many facets of what a young person’s life needs and I do believe that we have sown the seeds for what can and will become the most effective centre of learning on the island of Mauritius.  I have so enjoyed being here at this school in its formative years of development and genuinely believe the staff and I have made a difference both to the lives of children and education here in Mauritius.
